Ubiquitous presence of TV shows, as a staple of electronic babysitter, has long been a source of behavioral impacts on preschoolers and toddlers. However, opinions differ regarding whether screen time or the kind of TV shows carries more clout.

My own belief is that neither genre of tv programs nor viewing time carries more significance in breeding more ill-behaved or good-behaved kids; rather, it is the variables in age and cognitive abilities that hold sway. Repetitive numerical studies have found that 3-hour daily educational television viewing—which is recommended to be prohibited for 2-year-olds—may not always bode ill for 7-year-olds. Appropriate parental supervision is another important but underrated element that has the potential to significantly break the spell of television shows. If this were not the case, tv programs ought to have long been blamed as a taboo for the minors worldwide, for its so-called negative psychological and social repercussions.
