本周我们来学习与语言学习相关的词汇。
1. tongue/tʌŋ/
n. 语言
如：mother /native tongue 母语
I am proficient in Chinese which is my mother tongue.
The French feel passionately about their native tongue.
短语补充：
a slip of the tongue 口误
e.g. I didn't mean to offend her; it was just a slip of the tongue.
e.g. During the presentation, I made a slip of the tongue and mispronounced a key word.

e.g. Learning Russian can be challenging, especially trying to get my tongue around the pronunciation of names and places.
2. bilingual /baɪ'lɪŋgw(ə)
adj. 双语的;能说两种语言的
e.g. I am bilingual in English and Chinese.
e.g. The job posting requires candidates to be bilingual in both Mandarin and English.
n. bilingual n. 能说两种语言的人
e.g. Studies have shown that bilinguals often have enhanced cognitive abilities compared to monolinguals.

3. lingua franca ˈlɪŋgwiˈfræŋki/
n. 母语不同的人之间使用的通用语，交际语，混合语
e.g. It is incontrovertible that English has become the lingua franca of the world in the fields of business, science, aviation, computing, education, politics and entertainment (and arguably many others).
如话题：Why do people learn English?
e.g. English, one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, is viewed as the lingua franca across various domains. Proficiency in English enables people to communicate effectively and access educational and professional opportunities.
4. immerse /ɪˈmɚs/
v.使自己潜心于;沉浸于…
补充：immerse oneself in ….
e.g. I try to immerse myself in Germany by watching TV shows, movies, and listening to music in that language.
e.g. Studying abroad allow students to fully immerse themselves in the local culture and language.
adj. immersive 沉浸式的
e.g. Studying abroad provides students an immersive language experience, allowing students to fully expose themselves to the local culture and language. n. immersion (全部使用外语的)沉浸式外语教学
e.g. He learned French through immersion.
e.g. Apart from classroom instruction, we have never had any opportunities for immersion, which is a shame for language learners.
