　　Describe an invention that has changed the world in a positive way

　　You should say:

　　• What it is

　　• What benefits it has brought

　　• How it influences people of different ages

　　• And how it changed people's lives in a positive way

　　既然重要，它也相对有点难度。难在哪?就是你是否明确了"Invention"的定义与范围。

　　所以什么是发明?

　　很多同学会把目光单一的聚焦于科技产品，包括：

　　电子产品

　　手机/ iPad/ 电脑/ 苹果无线耳机/ 蓝牙键盘/ 苹果笔/ 翻译笔/相机/无人机/计算机等

　　科技技术

　　AI/ VR/ AR/ MR/IOS/ Android/ Pathon/ C++/ Java等

　　电脑手机软件

　　淘宝/ 支付宝/ 微信/ Facebook等

　　家用电器

　　冰箱/电视/空气炸锅/空调/ 投影仪等

　　但实则，我们身边的任何一个物品(虚拟亦或实际)都是"Invention"。比如：

　　交通工具

　　自行车/电瓶车(scooter)/ 火车/高铁/飞机/船/公交车等

　　文具

　　笔(铅笔/钢笔/圆珠笔)/墨/纸/砚等

　　家具

　　桌子/椅子/床/柜子/沙发等

　　美容护肤

　　美容仪/ 热玛吉等

　　What it is

　　发明涉及和"Object"相关的维度，以下四个是我着重推荐的角度：

　　Popularity 受欢迎程度

　　该角度是物品/活动类型话题中优先考虑的角度。我们可重点从其受欢迎程度的变化上来做具体的内容拓展。可能它原先不受欢迎，后来广受欢迎;也有可能它原本很受欢迎，现在不怎么受欢迎，但在你看来，它依旧是非常重要的发明。

　　Example：

　　A great invention that comes to mind is the dishwasher. It wasn’t that popular when it first came out and not many people in China bought them. Years later, it is one of the most popular home appliances and almost every household has one.

　　How you know about it 你怎么知道的

　　任何一个发明都需要有一个你从听说到了解的过程。为此，你可以说明你第一次是怎么听说的，初步了解到什么，是否有产生兴趣，进一步如何做了解，以及最后你是否有使用该产品。

　　Example one：

　　With the boom of technology, there are hundreds of thousands of inventions which have changed people’s lives on a daily basis. For me, the drone 无人机 is the most impressive. I clearly remember the first time I heard about them was when I was in college. One of my classmates was talking about them, however, I wasn’t really that interested until about two years ago. I saw how much you could do with them so I decided to save up and get one.

　　Brand 品牌

　　任何一个产品都会有对应的一些品牌。我们可以简单聊一聊有哪些公司入局了这一块市场，或者在这些公司中，最受欢迎的是哪个品牌，它受欢迎的原因是什么。

　　Example：

　　An invention that comes to mind is a robotic sweeper 扫地机器人. They really took off 受欢迎 and now many companies have their own model including Xiaomi. Even though they started much later, their advanced technology means they stand out from the rest and most people choose this brand.

　　Price 价格

　　价格会有变动。一般而言，当一个产品刚出来说，价格往往会很高，逐渐的科技的成熟、生产力的提升，它的价格也就开始下降。

　　Example four：

　　An invention that comes to mind is the camera. I remember when I was young, they cost an arm and a leg 很贵 to buy. But nowadays, as technology has improved dramatically, the prices have come right down and are affordable. Most households have one.

　　What benefits it has brought

　　答题框架：主次/时间线

　　这道题的难点是如何和第四问题进行内容上的区分。我的建议是在此小问里，我们更多的从其功能上进行阐述。

　　比如：无人机可以用来拍摄，也可以用来运输物品;

　　冰箱可以用来冷藏，也可以用来冷冻甚至制冰;

　　洗碗机可以用来洗碗，也可以消毒碗筷等。

　　Example one：

　　Drones allow us to appreciate the scenery from a bird's eye view. It’s incredible to see things we can't usually see. In addition to that, even though it’s small, it can carry items of a certain weight. During the lockdown, people used it to transport food which made a great difference.

　　Example two：

　　Dishwashers have brought so many benefits. People no longer have to spend ages washing the dishes by hand. They just load the dishwasher and within an hour all the plates and dishes are washed and dried. All they have to do is put them away. The machines also do a much better job of cleaning and there is less chance of bacteri.

　　How it influences people of different ages

　　此题有两种打法：

　　部分影响

　　尤其对于科技产品而言，年轻人的接受度比较高;老年人往往会觉得它们不实用以及难使用。

　　Example：

　　I would say the younger generation is more influenced by drones. Firstly, they are very tech-savvy 精通科技的 and into gadgets 小玩意 so whenever a new product comes onto the market, they are curious. Also, many young people are into posting creative content on their social media pages so drones give them a unique angle. I don't believe many old people would buy one as they would probably see it as a waste of money and unless they are good with technology, they would struggle to use it.

　　完全影响

　　有一些产品，当它们在社会上的影响力增大，以及普及度提升后，它们就会对所有年龄段产生影响。

　　Example：

　　I think cameras are popular with all age groups. Take my family as an example, my cousin was the first one to buy one and then surprisingly, my grandpa also bought one. He told me that photography was a very popular hobby and that many of his friends enjoy it too. He said it is a very relaxing way to spend your time.

　　How it changed people's lives in a positive way

　　发明对我们的影响是多方面的，但我个人比较强调两个点：

　　Motivation 动力

　　有一部分发明会给人的生活/工作/学习带来动力。比如：交通工具的出现，让人有了出门旅行的动力;电脑的出现让人有了网上自学的动力;跑步机的出现让人有了在家健身的动力等。

　　Example ：

　　I think they have changed people’s lives a lot. I think the biggest advantage to having a drone is that it gets people out of the house. Nowadays people have become homebodies and don't like to leave the comfort of their sofa. They are happy spending hours glued to 粘在 their phone. If someone has a drone, they will probably travel around finding incredible landscapes to film. Out enjoying nature and the fresh air.

　　Ease family conflict 缓解家庭矛盾

　　这个观点主要针对家用电器而言。它们的出现解放人的双手，给人们的生活带来便利，为此，家庭的争执就会变小。比如：扫地机器人让夫妻间无需争吵谁应该打扫卫生;洗碗机的出现可以解放女性的双手，并让家人间拥有更多共处的时光。

　　Example one：

　　I think dishwashers have changed people’s lives a lot. Firstly, they make people’s lives much easier and more convenient. Secondly, they help ease family conflicts. Whose turn it is to do the washing up is a constant battle in most families. Having a dishwasher takes away the ongoing 持续存在的 arguments and allows families to spend more quality time together rather than bicker over 为...争吵 chores.
