Describe something you had to share with others
You should say:
• What it was
• Who you shared it with
• Why you had to share it with others
• And how you felt about it
1. “Something”的范围
它既可以指object(车/充电器/床/被子手机/衣服/鞋子/各类app账号等);也可以是place(房间/ 家/ 土地等)。
2. “Had to”定义
"Have to"的定义是“ used to show that you must do sth”(必须/不得不)
01
What it was
Year-Month-Date-Hour”
Example one:
Something that comes to mind is my iPad. It was my 16th birthday present from my mum. I cherished it very much, so I didn't like sharing it with anyone. However, a few weeks ago after having dinner, I started playing on it while lying on the sofa. Then my sister asked if she could borrow it.
Example two:
Something that comes to my mind is a taxi I hailed 打的 one time. It took place about a month ago. I remember it was a terrible Friday. When I finished my last class, the heavens opened As I didn’t have an umbrella with me, I decided to call a taxi. After waiting for two minutes, it came. However, when I got into the car, I found there was an old lady sitting in the back. I was confused, as I didn't realise I was sharing the car with anyone else.
Example three:
Something that comes to my mind is the room I shared during a trip. It took place about a year ago. I clearly remember it was the beginning of my summer holiday. My friends decided to arrange a trip to an island. We booked the tickets and also arranged our accommodation. As my friends all had boyfriends coming with them I got to enjoy a big room to myself. However, a day before we set off, I got a phone call from one of my friends who told me that her cousin also wanted to join our trip and asked me whether I could share my room with her.
02
Who you shared it with
Example one:
My sister is 6 years younger than me and was cheeky 厚脸皮的/鲁莽的 and naive. My parents spoiled 宠溺 her all the time. She had a room of toys. Even though she had a lot more stuff than me, she still wanted my iPad.
Example two:
From the corner of my eye I could see that the old lady didn’t look very well. She was pale and was covered with a thick blanket, even though it was a hot summer day. She didn’t say a word for the whole journey and most of the time, she had her eyes closed.
Example three:
此段选择从“How you know the person”来带出她的外貌/性格相关的特征。
My friend’s cousin is called Julia, she is 5 years younger than me. We hadn't met each other before, but my friend always talked about her. She told me that she was an excellent student with pretty looks. At the same time, she was outgoing and easygoing.
03
Why you had to share it with others
Example one:
Actually, I was very reluctant to 不情愿的 share it with my sister, but my mum told me that as the older sister, I should be kind and generous. She also said that I was old enough to know the importance of sharing. In the end, I gave in. I decided it was just easier to lend it to her. That way they would both stop nagging 唠叨 me.
Example two:
To be honest, I wasn’t used to sharing a taxi with others. But this time, I didn't mind at all, as the driver explained that the lady was his mum and she had Alzheimer's Disease Due to the cold wet weather, he decided it was better to take her with him to work so he could keep her warm and safe. I am not sure if she enjoyed being in the car all day but at least she had company and was comfortable.
Example three:
Actually, I didn't really want to share a room with anyone, but I agreed in the end. Honestly, I didn’t know how to say no, as it would be very awkward between me and my friend. I then realised that it would cut down costs as we would halve 均摊 the bill.
04
How you felt about it
Example one:
It turned out to be a terrible mistake lending it to her. My sister had no idea how to use the iPad and she deleted almost all the apps I had downloaded, including some of my favourites. She also played video games using my account. As she kept losing, I lost all of my credits. And the worst part was that she saw my pictures and then deleted some of them. I was furious 生气 and never let her near my iPad ever again.
Example two:
It was a very special and unforgettable experience for me. I was really touched by the man's actions. Nowadays people are so wrapped up in their own lives 关注于自己的生活 and don't have much time to spend with elderly family members. But he set a good example and I learnt how important it is to care for and love all family members. When I got home I wrote him a glowing review 好评 on the taxi app.
Example three:
Actually, it turned out to be a very pleasant experience. Julia was a really nice girl. Even though she is younger than me, she is very mature and independent. I would say that she took care of me more than I did of her. I remember one night, I didn’t feel very well maybe because of the changing temperature. She brought me hot water and when I lost my appetite 失去胃口, she made me porridge. Thanks to her, I recovered as soon as possible.
