Describe a long walk you ever had
You should say:
• When it happened
• Where you walked
• Who you ever with
• And explain how you felt about it
01
When it happened
Year-month-date-hour
在阐述"hour"的时候可以用"before/after/while"来确定具体时间范围。
Example one:
It took place about a month ago. I clearly remember it was a Saturday morning. While I was still sleeping, my friend, Jack, called me and asked me to go for a long walk with him. Even though I was very sleepy, I still jumped at the chance After having a short breakfast, I set off 出发.
Example two:
The last time I went for a long walk was about a year ago. It is a tradition in my school that every summer, we have a summer outing 夏游. I clearly remember last year when we had this event, it was a terrible day. The heavens opened 倾盆大雨一泄如注 before we set off. In spite of that, the event wasn't cancelled and we continued.
02
Where you walked
Example one:
Our destination was a small village off the beaten track 偏僻的. It is tucked away 隐匿 in the mountains, so the air is clean and many people choose to go hiking there. But this village is a bit far from my school and it takes about 6 hours for us to get there on foot.
Example two:
We drove to a mountain first. The mountain is the highest in my city and it is also noted for 以...闻名 an abundance of flora and fauna 动植物. When we arrived, we started climbing. After the rain, it was a bit slippery 滑的, so we moved slowly and finally it took about 4 hours for us to arrive at the top.
03
Who you were with
2. 一次性
当我们遇到的话题是"Describe a time when..."
Example:
Actually there were 4 people who joined the activities including myself and Jack. The other two were Jack’s friends. Even though we hadn't met each other before, we hit it off 一拍即合 straight away 立刻. They were also very experienced and enjoyed this kind of outdoor activity. During the trip, they shared with me so many interesting things they had done before.
·2+1=3
Example:
Actually at first, only Jack and I decided to go for a long walk. But when I shared this news with my cousin, she was very keen to go too. She thought it was also a good opportunity for her to relax and unwind 放松 after a long period of studying. She jumped at the chance 抓住机会 and came with us.
·3-1=2
Example one:
Actually the activity was for the whole school, meaning that all the students and teachers need to take part in it. However, some students thought it would be too tough so they found an excuse not to come.
Example two:
Originally it was going to be me, Jack and another friend but he is such a flaky person 放鸽子的人 and stood us up 放鸽子 that morning. When we called him, he ignored all our phone calls. As we are used to him not turning up, we didn't give it another thought and just carried on.
04
How you felt about it
Example:
Even though it was a very tiring journey, I gained a lot. I think the most enjoyable part was the beautiful scenery along the road. We breathed the fresh air and enjoyed the blue sky with big, fluffy clouds. More importantly, we saw so many vibrant flowers blooming in the mountains. It was really picturesque and I couldn’t help taking so many pictures.
Even though my feet were killing me the next day, I have so many fond memories 美好的回忆 from the walk. I got the chance to chat with my friends. We gossiped and giggled a lot. I found out more about them and felt lucky to be their friends. What’s more, the journey was also an eye-opener As a city girl, I knew nothing about nature. But along the road, I saw so many beautiful plants and lovely animals. My friends knew more than me so they taught me many new facts.
It was a meaningful journey for me. Even though I got injured because I fell over on the slippery road, I still gained a lot. I learnt the importance of persistence. At first, I really wanted to give up, but I kept going. Because of this, I witnessed the most beautiful rainbow in the sky and I also saw incredible animals. I am so glad I pushed myself.
