Moreover, researchers are exploring the possibility of digital consciousness preservation, wherein our minds could be uploaded to a virtual environment, enabling us to exist beyond the limitations of our physical bodies.
Nevertheless, if this trajectory persists, concerns about potential risks stemming from machines surpassing human intelligence appear to be well-founded. As these advanced computers will likely possess the capability to innovate and refine technology, developing new concepts beyond our comprehension, we inevitably cede intellectual dominance to machines. Intelligence begets control; humans prevail in the food chain, not due to physical strength, but rather superior intellect. Consequently, relinquishing our status as the most intelligent beings on Earth could also mean relinquishing control. While the majority of researchers concur that a superintelligent computer is unlikely to exhibit human emotions such as love or hate, and there is no basis to assume artificial intelligence would develop malicious intent, our lack of experience with such an entity that can intentionally or inadvertently outsmart us leaves us on uncertain ground.
In conclusion, augmenting human cognition with artificial intelligence holds the potential to propel human civilization to unprecedented heights, provided we maintain control. Conversely, as computers surpass human capabilities in numerous domains previously considered exclusive to humans, it is imperative to remain cognizant of the practical risks that accompany such advancements.
