Students also oftenhave questions about how their writing is graded, and some of them have ageneral understanding of the band descriptors, which is only available inpublic version. A teacher is also suggested extracting the core information andsummarizing and presenting to the students fewer bullet points. In my teaching,I simplify the descriptors into the following:
Task Response (TR) = stay on the topic, anduse persuasive ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion (CC) = have a cleartopic sentence, preferably at the beginning of the each paraphrase (of thebody), and use connectives where there needs logic connection.
Lexical Resource (LR) = choose less-commonlyused and contextually appropriate words and expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy (GRA) = occasional mistakes and errors are allowed but better avoided, and constantlychange subjects (or the nature of subjects) to diversify the sentencestructure.
