本周我们来学习和饮食有关的词汇：
1. refreshment /rɪ'freʃm(ə)nt/
n. 茶点;点心
e.g. Light refreshments will be served/provided at the meeting.
雅思真题9-2-2：Fairly close to where refreshments are available, there is a dog-walking area in the southern part of the, leading off from the path.
adj. refreshing 使人提神的;使清爽的
adj. refreshed 感到神清气爽的
e.g. In small doses, caffeine can make you feel refreshed and focused. In large doses, caffeine can make you feel anxious and have difficulty sleeping.
e.g. Iced coffee is a refreshing beverage that will provide some added energy as well as a wonderful taste on a busy day or relaxing vacation.
2. appetite /'æpɪtaɪt/
n. 胃口;食欲
常见搭配：
spoil somebody’s appetite 减少食欲
whet somebody's appetite 激发食欲
口语话题：Did you often eat snacks when you were young?
例：No I didn’t. My parents imposed a very strict quota on the snacks I could have every day. And they believed consuming snacks between meals would spoil my appetite for the next meal.
e.g. Delicious smells from the kitchen whetted our appetites.
除胃口外，appetite 还可以指对某事的强烈好奇心;渴望
The thought of the exam took away his appetite.
The press feeds the public’s appetite for details of celebrities’ lives.

3. scarf /skɑːf/
n. 围巾
v. 快速地吃;狼吞虎咽地吃
常见搭配：scarf something down.

e.g. In no time, I scarfed down two hamburgers, French fries, and a cola.

4. specialize /ˈspeʃəlaiz/
v. 专门从事;专门经营;专门研究
搭配：specialize in
剑桥真题13-1-1：They do a bit of meat and fish cookery buy they most specialize in vegetarian dishes.
补充：vegetarian adj. 素食主义的
本季口语话题：Describe a person who enjoys cooking for others.
例：My mom cooks a mixed variety of dishes, but she mainly specializes in spicy cuisine. Sichuan boiled spicy pork is her signature dish.
