　　今天我们来学习分别能用在雅思口语和听力中的与地图相关的词汇。

　　1. navigate /'nævɪgeɪt/

　　v. 导航;引路

　　常见搭配：navigate the city / your way / places

　　e.g. Tourists use maps to navigate unfamiliar places.

　　如雅思口语话题：

　　Do you often use maps?

　　Yes, I use maps quite frequently, especially when I travel unfamiliar cities. Maps help me to navigate and get around the city with ease.

　　n. navigation 导航

　　导航软件：navigation apps 或者也可以称为 digital maps

　　e.g. Navigation apps can provide people with turn-by-turn guidance，making it easier for them to find their way without confusion

　　e.g. I think paper maps will become less common in the future due to the prevalence of digital navigation tools.

　　2. junction /'dʒʌŋkʃən/

　　n. 公路的交叉路口;公路或铁路的汇合处

　　e.g. This is a very busy road junction during rush hour.

　　e.g. The market square lies at the junction of two main roads.

　　补充：rush hour 高峰期

　　雅思听力：13-1-2地图题：Now，we already have a set of traffic lights in the High Street junction with Station Road, but we are planning to have another set in the end, at the School Road junction, to regulate the flow of traffic along the High Street.

　　3. bend /bend/

　　n. 路、管道等的弯曲处，转弯处, 弯道

　　常见搭配：sharp/ blind/ right-angle bend 急拐弯

　　e.g. Drivers usually slow down when approaching a sharp bend.

　　雅思听力：15-2-2地图题: There is a new area of wooden sculpture, which are on the river bank, where the path from the east gate makes a sharp bend.

　　e.g. He waited until the man had turned a corner.

　　4. negotiate /nɪ'gəʊʃɪeɪt/

　　v. 顺利通过;成功越过

　　e.g. The experienced driver skillfully negotiated the bend in the road.

　　e.g. As the cyclist approached the countryside, she skillfully negotiated the winding road, enjoying the scenic views around every bend.
